Water Quality:Denver Residents

Hi guys!

Thought I'd pass on the attached Denver Water water quality report for your use

in your homebrewing adventures should you choose to augment water constituents to target

a particular water profile (e.g., Burton-on-Trent, Pilsen, etc.).  Please note that the Denver Water

distribution system is completely integrated.  This means that water from any of the three

treatment plants can be blended or sent directly to your location.  Generally speaking you will be

receiving water from Foothills or Marston.  Foothills feeds the majority of the water,

but Marston during the summer may also be coming to your location.

At times you may also receive some Moffat water most likely blended though.

Taking the highest values for the parameters of interest should generally suffice for brewing.

I've summarized/averaged the most important parameters for brewing for you below:

Parameter                          Avg Value (mg/l)

Alkalinity                              59

Bicarbonate                        72

Hardness (as CaCO3)      104

Calcium                                29

Magnesium                        7.5

Sodium                                 20

Chloride                               22

Sulfate                                  54

pH                                          7.7-7.8

Cheers,

Jim
