TwinTrack Brewing Microbiology Course

As the technology of brewing microbiological analysis has made tremendous strides in the last 20 years, many breweries are looking for courses that addresses the emergence of new analytical techniques. At the same time, some breweries want training that educates in time-tested traditional lab analysis, providing the basis of an industry-standard QC/QA program. How do you address the needs of both types of students in one program?

The Siebel Institute TwinTrack Brewing Microbiology Program (May 25 - June 5, 2009)  in Montreal, Canada) provides the answer.

Using our unique TwinTrack course design system, students can choose the direction of their course content depending on their individual needs:

  • For those interested in instruction dealing in basic brewing industry lab techniques, the Essential Brewing Microbiology Track is the right choice, offering two weeks of instruction in the bedrock principles of brewing laboratory operations.  The Essential Track will give students skills to deal in areas like yeast propagation & maintenance, staining & identification of microorganisms, plating & aseptic handling techniques, and the full range of industry-standard lab QC/QA practices.

  • For those looking beyond traditional laboratory practice, the Advanced Brewing Microbiology Track provides training in established & emerging laboratory analytical technologies that will give your brewery a new range of QC/QA tools. Covering areas like yeast genetic fingerprinting, identification of contaminants using PCR analysis and other cutting-edge techniques, the Advanced Track prepares students to take full advantage of these emerging technologies. This is an excellent program for those conducting these cutting-edge tests in their own company or for those commissioning these testing services through facilities like our Siebel Institute Microbiological Services division.

The Siebel Institute of Technology TwinTrack Brewing Microbiology Program is conducted at our facility in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Our Microbiological Services division is located at the National Research Council Biotechnology Research Institute, one of the world's leading yeast & genetic research facilities. Students will be surrounded by research professionals using state-of-the-art equipment while working with some of the industries' most experienced brewing microbiology instructors. When not on campus, students will be able to enjoy the beauty and history of Montreal, one of the world's most scenic and vibrant cities.
