2011 Peak to Peak Pro-Am Homebrew Competition Entry Window
The Indian Peaks Alers Homebrew club is proud to present the 2011 Peak-to-Peak ProAm which is a BJCP/AHA sanctioned competition and qualifier for the GABF Pro-Am competition.
Entries will be accepted for all of the 2008 BJCP beer categories (however, no meads or ciders). Categories may be consolidated into manageable flights to facilitate judging. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each flight. 1st place winners will advance to a Best-of-Show round where the overall competition winner will be selected. After the BOS has been determined, the participating brewers will select winning beers for entry into the 2010 GABF ProAm competition.
The competition judging will take place on Saturday, March 19th, 2010 at Left Hand Brewing in Longmont, CO. There will be an awards ceremony following the judging session (at approximately 5pm).
The Pro-Am competition represents a unique opportunity for commercial breweries to pair up with homebrewers and create some truly unique beers. The GABF Pro-Am rules stipulate that homebrewers must be members of the American Homebrewing Association at the time of entry. If you are not a member, please visit www.beertown.org and sign up today. Be sure to include your AHA membership number and expiration date on the entry forms.

Competition Rules
All entrants must be a member of the AHA at the time of the competition to qualify for the GABF Pro-Am. AHA membership number and expiration dates must be entered on competition entry forms.
All entries must be homebrewed. Commercially brewed beverages or beverages brewed on professional / commercial systems are ineligible.
Each entry will be judged according to the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines for the category and subcategory in which it is entered. All beer categories are eligible (categories 1-23). All subcategories for each major category are eligible. Additional information (i.e. base style and specialty) about entries in categories 6D, 16E, 17F, 20, 21, 22 B, 22C, and 23 must be provided as described in the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. Only beers are allowed, no meads or ciders. Only one entry per subcategory is allowed.
Someone who is already associated with a brewery for the 2011 GABF ProAm Competition is not eligible to win a ProAm entry. Entries are still welcome and will be judged, but the Pro-Am rules only allow one Pro-Am entry per homebrewer.
Fee: $7.00 per entry. Make checks payable to Indian Peaks Alers. There are no limits on the number of entries. However, only one entry per BJCP subcategory is allowed per entran
Brewers must provide two, brown 10-16 oz. bottles that are free of previous labeling. Green bottles, Grolsch-style swing top bottles, or bottles with raised lettering are allowed, but discouraged. Bombers (22oz or 750ml) are acceptable but 2 bottles must be submitted. Bottles that are so unique as to make identity of the entrant a possibility may be subject to disqualification should not be submitted.
Each bottle must have a completely filled out bottle ID form RUBBER BANDED to the bottle. Taped or glued labels could disqualify the entry. Caps should be plain; any markings should be blacked out with a permanent marker. Entry and bottle ID forms can be found Here
A completely filled out Competition entry form / recipe sheet must be rubber banded to one of the bottles. Any entry without a recipe is subject to disqualification. The category and sub-category of the entry must be identified or the entry will not be judged. Organizers will not classify or reclassify your entries
All entries submitted become property of the Peak-to-Peak ProAm. No part of an entry will be returned, including bottles. Empty bottles may be claimed on a first-come, first-served basis after the competition.
The participating commercial brewers retain the flexibility to:
- change the winning recipe as necessary to accommodate their brewing equipment.
- choose the winning beer based on private concerns (marketability, balance to existing beer line, ability to participate in GABF Pro-Am Competition, etc.)
Entries will be accepted between March 1st and March 11th 2011 at 6pm.
Judging will take place Saturday March 19, 2011 beginning at 9am. ***Please note that some categories may be judged prior to Saturday. Refunds and returns are not available. Depending on the number of entries overall and the specific categories entered and in order to maintain a reasonably high level of competition, the competition organizers reserve the right to combine two or more style categories for judging in mixed, "collapsed" categories.
An awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011. Awards, prizes and certificates will be distributed to winners or representatives in attendance that evening. Remaining prizes and score sheets will be distributed by local pick-up or by mail as necessary.
We reserve the right to disqualify any entry for failure to comply with these rules. Disqualified entries may be evaluated but will not be eligible for awards or prizes. No entries or fees will be returned. The decision of the judges is final.
