This was announced at the club meeting last night, but I wanted to reiterate the details on the web site and begin to solicit beers for the selection process. Date for the event is to be determined, but it will be sometime in March or April. Here's the scoop, The talented chef of the Rockyard will be preparing a 4-5 course meal inspired by and containing 4-5 homebrewed creations from RHBC members. We need to select the beer for the meal. Process for selection is simple, please sign up below and indicate what beer you would like to offer for consideration. If we have 5 or less signed up, those will be the beers. If we have more than 5 sign up, at the March RHBC meeting each person signed up will bring one bottle of the beer and a tasting committee (selection of the committee to be determined) will pick the 5 beers for the dinner based on beer/food pairing options, taste, variety, etc. Note, since we're not selecting the beers until March, you still have some time to specifically brew for the beer dinner. If you want to offer your beer, please be prepared that we will need a minimum of 12 / 12oz bottles, possibly as many as 24 / 12oz bottles depending on what the chef decides to do with your beer and turnout to the dinner as your beer will be served alongside its dish. Pride and glory to those whose beers are selected. So put aside 24 / 12 oz bottles of your offered beer for the event (or a keg) and obviously if we need less it will be returned to you. For those interested in attending the dinner, we will have a strict cap at 24 seats for the dinner so be sure to sign up once the date is confirmed.

On Friday, February 26th we'll have two great events, one great evening! First on the plate is the tapping of Pliny the Younger at Falling Rock. What is Pliny the Younger you may ask, well, I'll tell you. It's Pliny the Elder, younger. Which means, if you can imagine this, MORE HOPS than the Elder. If you're a hop head, this is not to be missed. The Younger (second keg) is being tapped at 5:00 p.m. on the 26th. Fair warning, it will likely be crowded. I'll try to get there early to secure a Hopper table. So, Hoppers unite in the pursuit of delicious hop wonder and come down to Falling Rock to try some Younger! For the second leg of our tour, Tom from Sandlot has invited us back to the brewery. For those of you who missed the first tour, the Sandlot rocks. We got to drink beer right off the serving tanks from pig tails. One word...AWESOME. Tom is an extremely gracious brewer and very knowledgable. He specializes in those ever so hard to brew lager beers, and they are delicious. Start time for the Sandlot portion of the evening will be ~7:00 p.m. We're starting later to hopefully facilitate better attendance at a downtown event for those who have to work. For those able to meet at Falling Rock, the Sandlot is an easy walk down the street. I would highly encourage taking the light rail to Union Station and arranging a DD to pick you up from the light rail on your way home.
